  2. Show Ball 3 Hardly Brings the House Down! Video bingo is certainly doing everything in its power to command an audience right now and to shake off the image that it’s a dated online casino game. Sadly, in our opinion Show Bingo 3 just doesn’t do enough to be able to help further this cause.

Bingo

Derived from a variation of a lotto called Beano – which used beans to mark the numbers. The actual phrase “Bingo” was coined after the game was first introduced in New York and a woman tongue tied with the excitement of winning yelled out “B-B-B-Bingo!” Now when you have all the required numbers, or “pattern,” to win you are supposed to yell out “Bingo!” right after your last winning number is called. Most bingo halls will not honor a bingo on a winning number if it is not called before the next number has been announced.

Bingo Board

A display board, usually electronic that lights up showing each number as it is called.

Bingo Card

A card containing 24 numbered spaces and one free space (blank), with which you play BINGO. The numbers are assigned at random on each card and are arranged in five columns of five numbers each by five rows (5 x 5 = 25 in total including the blank square). The numbers in the B column are between 1 and 15, in the I column 16 and 30, in the N column 31 and 45, in the G column 46 and 60, and in the W column between 61 and 75. Players have thousands of unique cards.

Bingo Marker

A crayon or ink dauber that is used to cover the numbers on a bingo game card.

Blackout

(Also, Coverall) A pattern where you must cover the whole card to win.

Blower

A forced-air device that mixes the bingo balls and dispenses them to the caller who announces the number and displays it on a bingo board.

Bonanza

On this flimsy, 45 numbers are pre-called at the start of a session. These numbers can be marked off, any time prior to the start of playing the game. This is the one game where you get paid for having the worst card in the house, plus we offer prizes for blackout winners as well. Player may also trade in cards that don’t offer a good chance of winning for 2 new cards at half price. These are called exchanges.

Caller

The person who calls out the bingo numbers as they are drawn.

Cards by the pack

Regular pack games can either be purchased in packs of 6 cards per sheet (called 6ons) for a fixed cost $10 per pack. Or 3 on for $5

This is where you purchase your regular pack session cards.

Consolation Prize

The prize or prizes offered on some special games if there is no winner in a predetermined number of calls.

Coverall (Also Blackout)

A pattern where you must cover the whole card to win.

Double Action

This flimsy offers 2 numbers in each square. If either number is called, you get to mark off the whole square. This is one of the highest paying games we have. When you are down to only needing 1 square, you have 2 chances to win!

Flimsy, Flimsies

Bingo cards printed on thin sheets of paper. There are usually three cards printed on a single sheet but flimsies are also printed in one, two, for, six and nine card formats. Also called “Throwaways” in some areas.

Flimsy Sales Desk

This is where you purchase your extra flimsies that are not included in your regular pack games.

Free Space

The center square of the card, which does not have a number assigned to it. It’s like a Joker or a Wild Square. You get it free every game and it counts towards your winning pattern.

Hot Ball

This is an extra game that is played on your Regular pack games. Quite simply, if you bingo on a pre-determined number( the Hot Ball) on any of your pack games, you win the jackpot! It is only $1 to play.

Lead Up

A game is considered a “lead up” when multiple patterns are played on the way to a final game, usually a coverall (blackout).

Level Up!

This promotion is played at all of our Saturday Sessions. Higher payouts at no additional cost! Level 1 pays $100, Level 2 pays $150, and Level 3 pays $200 per Regular Pack Game.

Minis (Mini Games)

Bingo games played before the start of a regular “session”. Minis are purchased separately from your normal cards.

Multiple Winners

If two or more players bingo on the same winning number, the cash prize is divided equally among them, usually with anything under a dollar rounded up. With multiple winners, it does not matter who calls Bingo first.

Pattern

The shape you need to cover on your card with called out numbers, usually it is a combination of straight lines or blocks.

Pick 8

This is a game very similar to lotto. Players select 8 numbers for the top card and 8 numbers for the bottom portion of the card. The first player to correctly mtach a set of 8 numbers wins the prize! Match them in 20#’s or less to win the jackpot!

Powerball

A special $1 flimsy that offers 2 chances to win a jackpot. Bingo on the Powerball number on either game on the powerball flimsy and you win the posted prize! Between $500-$20,000+ (Yes! someone has won that much before.)

Progressive Jackpot

A jackpot that gets bigger until it is won. It builds daily, weekly, or monthly if it is not won in a specific number of calls. If there is no winner in X number of calls, consolation prize(s) of lesser dollar amounts are paid. Different variations of progressive games and dollars or numbers, or both, to the jackpot.

Pull-tab

A multi-ply card with perforated tabs that breaks open. The game area of the card is concealed to hide the numbers or symbols on the card, for the same reason state lottery cards are concealed. Prizes typically range from $1 (playback) to $1,000.

Pull-tab Counter

This is where you can purchase/redeem pull-tab tickets.

Session

Hot Ball Bingo Game

An entire evening or daytime program of bingo consisting of regular games and special games played on throwaways, flimsies or paper sheets.

Texas Blackout

A variation of bingo. A number will be drawn to determine whether all the odd or even numbers are to be covered on a designated flimsy. For example, if B-8 is the number drawn, all the even numbers are to be covered on the designated flimsy.

Treasure Island

Wild Number

Numbers that are given freely to players. There are different methods that halls use to determine wild numbers. For example, N-37 is used to determine the wild number. All numbers ending in 7 will become wild.
